Solar catamaran Suncat 46
The Horizon Group collaborated with Thomas Meyer of Solar Water World AG to create a high-end solar-powered boat for the global market. They have now proudly presented the SunCat 46, the successor to their first eco-friendly yacht design. J.C. Espinosa was responsible for the exterior styling of SunCat 46, which features a layout that includes a saloon, galley, dinette, helm station, and owner’s stateroom equipped with an ensuite head that includes a shower. The yachts accommodation was designed to be spacious, comfortable, and consistent with typical motor yachts.
The SunCat 46 uses high-efficiency batteries to store the energy required to move, moor, and perform other boating activities. Additionally, the catamaran features an ultra-low resistance hull design created for efficient cruising with minimal power usage. This new catamaran is the second Horizon yacht to be powered by solar energy after the SunCat 23, which was launched in 2009. The SunCat 23, which can carry up to 12 passengers, has a 2.8 kW electric outboard that can reach speeds of up to six knots.
